“The Voice of America’s Tow Truck Industry”

For over 25 years we have taken that slogan very seriously as we have worked to improve our industry’s voice in legislation, education and communication.  We want you to know this is "your" National Towing Association.

OVERVIEW

TRAA, Founded in 1979 in Kansas City, Missouri and headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, is the umbrella trade group and national voice of the towing and recovery industry, which is estimated to include more than 35,000 towing businesses in the United States. TRAA's membership includes professionals from the United States, Canada, England, Australia, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and Japan.

TRAA is a 501 (c)(6) nonprofit membership national towing association, governed by a representative board of directors whose officers are elected from the membership.

TRAA's member companies comprise the industry's leaders and the major suppliers to the towing and recovery industry. TRAA also offers membership to towers certified through the National Driver Certification Program.

TRAA represents the interests of the towing and recovery industry on Capitol Hill, sponsoring an annual Legislative & Leadership Conference held during March in Washington, D.C. and attended by an increasing number of members as well as state association officers and leaders. TRAA also produces an array of educational products supporting professionalism in towing and recovery and in business management.

VISION

PROFESSIONALISM: The standards for towing and recovery knowledge developed by the National Driver Certification Program will be the established practice of all men and women working in the towing and recovery profession.

MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGY: TRAA will lead the way in helping the industry adapt to computer-driven hi-tech systems for managing information, administering business, and providing towing and recovery services.

MEMBERSHIP PROGRAMS: TRAA will be the industry's primary source for technical, management, business, legislative, and professional information.

INDUSTRY LEADERSHIP: TRAA and the TRAA Education Foundation will be active partners with the industry and its suppliers to develop, deliver, and fund the highest quality programs and services that provide the greatest benefits to the largest number of men, women, and families working in the national towing and recovery industry.

HEALTH AND WELFARE: As the social and economic burden of American society shift from the Federal government to the people, TRAA and the TRAA Education Foundation will lead the way to bring important human and social service programs to the men, women, and children of the towing and recovery association.
