WTRAA’S 2008 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

The WTRAA Scholarship Committee is now accepting scholarship applications. You can get a copy of the application from the “National Towing News” or by clicking on "Download WTRAA Scholarship Application" in the right hand margin. Any questions can be directed to Stacey Tucker, WTRAA Scholarship Committee Chairperson at 360-479-7500. Please be sure that the application is completed fully and received by the committee by the cut off date of June 9, 2008. Good luck to all applicants!

ROADSIDE SAFETY “DRESS FOR SUCCESS” DVD NOW AVAILABLE

We would like to thank WTRAA and TRAA Education Committee members Ruth Landau, Angela Roper and Marcie Gratzianna, who were part of a team to help produce a new safety DVD entitled “Dress for Success”. The DVD was shown for the first time at the TRAA Legislative Conference held on March 7th and 8th. Order one for your company today – it is a small price to pay for roadside safety education.

WTRAA MEETING SET FOR MAY 29, 2008

All tow ladies are invited to the WTRAA spring meeting at the CTTA Western States Tow Show at the Silver Legacy Resort & Casino in Reno on May 29, 2008 at 12:30 in the “Flavors” Restaurant. Some agenda items will be a new logo for WTRAA and the 2008 Tow Woman of the Year Award.

WTRAA SCHOLARSHIP FUND TO BENEFIT FROM TOW TIMES “HUNKS OF TOWING CALENDAR CONTEST”
Tow Times magazine is having the fist annual “Tow Times Hunks of Towing Calendar Contest” with all the proceeds from the calendar sales benefiting the International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum and the WTRAA Scholarship Fund. Visit www.towtimes.com; select the Hunks of Towing Calendar icon for all of the details. WTRAA would like to thank Tow Times and the sponsors of the contest – Horton Truck & Equipment Company, Fleet Sales West and United States Auto Club for their continued support of the WTRAA Scholarship Fund.

SPEED TV TO HIGHLIGHT O’HARE TOWING & RECOVERY OF CHICAGO THIS SUMMER ON NEW SERIES CALLED “WRECKED”
WTRAA 2nd Vice President, Marci Gratzianna, and her husband Bill, owners of O’Hare Towing & Recovery along with their family and employees will be featured in a 10-part series called “Wrecked” which will premier on SPEED TV this summer. The show will tell the stories behind the daily life of O’Hare Towing & Recovery, accompany drivers on high-risk calls as well as recording the daily stresses in the shop and in the family. When asked why they wanted to do the show, Marci responded “If this will do for the towing and recovery industry what Orange County Choppers did for motorcycles, it would all be worth it”.

Clarissa Powell, WTRAA member and Publisher of Tow Times magazine has been nominated to the International Towing & Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum Class of 2008. Congratulations, Clarissa, on this most prestigious and well deserved honor.

2008 TOW WOMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD
